I've procured a complete 4 speed set up for my 71 Barracuda. My plans are to convert the auto 727 SB to a 4 speed. Everything is used and I can confirm, I've got 90% of everything, my question is the shifter/rods.
Check out the pics I've attached to this message. I called Brewer's Performance today and they stated, it's a Super Competition Reverse lockout shifter.
Has anyone used this on a stock application? I've questioned the seller, and he got it from someone that promised it came out of an AAR.....can't seem to beleive that, but....what are your thoughts? It shifts fine, out of the car as depicted, but I know should be about one shifter height lower, and attached right to the trans on an aluminum block....I've had a four speed cuda before....
The attachment tab is unavailble...now, so imagine....standard Cuda shifter with a T-shape RED handle on the left side of the shifter.....

I've installed two or three Super Competion + 3 shifters in one A body and I think two E bodys(back in the mid 1970s), the linkage rods from the shifter to the arms on the trannys rubbed agianst the dang tranny crossmembers is what I remember about them You may need to make(grind, cut) some clearnaces on yours so they don't rub The stock Competion + shifters didn't have that problem the E body shifter rods are really long compared to all the other Mopar body style shifters due to the shifter mount on the rear of the tailshaft housing I bent the stock rods up pretty bad on my original Competion + shifter so I went with the S.C.+ 3, there rods have sleeves on them and they are a lot straighter to start with

Well, I'm going to give this a try. The Rods are beefier, and the lcok out handle will be something to deal with. I spoke to the owner who pulled this out of a 70 AAR Cuda. He said it worked like a champ, but the car was wrecked, so he got first dibbs on it. Any other thoughts are more than welcome....hoping to get my Cuda gear jammin' this winter.....

Its a close-pattern shifter with a reverse lock-out feature to ensure no idiot puts it in reverse instead of 1st. The only real downside is a) the extra slot in the boot and b) if you ever have to "rock" the car out of a snowbank its gonna be tough!
I have one and swapped in a pistol grip handle! I know you live in Canada but I don't see him having to get that car out of a snowbank ????
running up my post count some more .

Others would have seen the humor in that statement. You, on the other hand, are always looking for something to pounce on.

Well I'm hosed because the files are too large anyways.
Thanks for the heads up, it's been a while since I posted on Moparts. The last post answered my question except his pic is a newer style lockout, mine is a flat red handle...easily(or so it appears)to be left in the up or down position.
Once I go through the trans, and gather the odds n ends to get this sucker fully converted....you all will hear back from me...thanks again, as always, Moparts rocks. -dc
