Andrewh OP master A Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 8,671	sorry, yes 5.9 magnum. trying to get the drivers exhaust off so I can pull the gear box. with those 2 in, it won't clear to pull it out. gave up for the night and will give it a go in the morning. thanks

killermopar pro stock Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,308 Spencer NY	I don't know how much room you have. I have in the past gotten a bigger nut and welded it on the end of the stud. It heats it for removal, and you can use the nut to spin it out.

GODSCOUNTRY340 master Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 2,505 God's Country Maryland	Double nut them as you said and make sure you use a torch and heat the head where the studs go in, don't heat the studs. I love the smell of Deer guts in the morning, it smells like... VICTORY!

NANKET master N Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 4,951 northwest USA	Can you remove the engine mount bolts and lift the engine slightly to gain access? Exhaust stud removal could have bad possibilities depending on many factors. Never worked on this vehicle so it may not help.

440_Offroader enthusiast 4 Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 257 Alberta	If you heat the studs, let them cool before you try to take them out. If they are still hot, even warm, the treads will pile up. Then you'll be hating life. The expansion and contraction of the stud will loosen it up.

Repeat a few times & the studs will come right out (double nutted). When it takes more than a sweet mullet to prove you rule at the trailer park..

Andrewh OP master A Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 8,671	I don't really have any way to heat them up that hot. no torch. Plus the exhaust is still hanging off them. That would suck up a lot of the heat. I had thought about unbolting the motor mount, but I remember how much of a pain it was getting them in, I am afraid to do that. I just wish I could remember if we stabbed the motor in with the manfolds on or if I put them on after. if I did it after then they had to be out and I coated them with anti-seeze(sp).

Andrewh OP master A Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 8,671	never got them out. loosened the motor mount and I could clear the ps box. then I got the ps box out. I put the exhaust back in while the ps box was loose.
