Hughs Engines has a nice hold down kit with studs, nuts, washers, and billet steel holddowns. They also have the studs you want. I chose not go with studs on my 493 just because if I needed to remove the heads in the car it would be easier. I used the Manley head bolts that came with my heads. Gus,
Very good point. I might have to keep using the head bolts. I don't think I can remove the passenger side head when using studs. I went with bolts as well for this very reason. I need to look into the Hughes rocker hold downs as they look very nice!

Most ARP studs can easily be removed with a 3/16 allen wrench.

My combo is very close to yours; street/strip 499", Edelbrocks, 11:1, flat tappet solid, 520RWHP. Using bolts, not studs for nearly 9 years with no problems.

Gus,
Very good point. I might have to keep using the head bolts. I don't think I can remove the passenger side head when using studs. You might be able to remove the lower heads studs in the car ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif) One thing about the head studs and headers is if you have a set of big tube headers the head studs may hit the header flanges ![scope scope](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/scope.gif) , been there done that ![runaway runaway](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/runaway.gif) I run head bolts on my current bracket car because of that issue ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif)
