Justify a Fluke...buy it once, and it will last you forever.

I agree, Fluke. I bought mine new when I was 21 years old & 26 years later it is a time tested friend.

I bought mine in the early - mid 90's or so. Saved up for it, but knew it would last me.

(If you didn't mind analog, vintage stuff is good too..I have a bit of that around too, just for the heck of it. biggrin )

Bought my Fluke in the early 90's but I was a sparky and used it a lot. Still going strong.

I have a Fluke 80 I got from work a long time ago, I also have bought several small cheap Radio Shack digital multi meters as well as some small hand held early conventional Triplett multi meters form work a long time ago. They never agree on the readings on voltage or Ohms except the same generation Tripletts meters with the same internal battery voltage being within 1/10 volt of each other shruggy Buy, beg, borrow or steal the good one once up grin

I have a Simpson 260 that is older than all your Flukes. smirk Analog to be sure. But all voltages, resistances and current measurements are analog anyway with no +/- 1 of the last digit error of all digital meters. It is also easier to tune for maximum with a analog meter.
I have 7 of the meters Harbor Freight gives away. Disposable but can be in the back of all my vehicles with four spares. I blew up a very expensive Beckman digital meter when I arced over a high voltage circuit years ago. I gave up a lab grade meters for daily use. I know where to borrow one if I need it.

I have a yellow harbor freight one. I don't really know what I'm doing with it, but like the continuity buzzer it has.

Check on Ebay, you can find some good deals on used ones there. I have been using the same Blue-Point meter for 15 years until it got crushed. Got the same model on E-Bay that looked new for $50.

I have a Radio Shack digital and has served me well for ~15 years. Not used daily. Don't know what the current ones are like but for occasional use, works fine.
