look at the local cl i just sold a magnum 318 complete soup to nut...intake front serp setup harness starter for 250 bucks and was glad to be rid of it.
in a pinch your earlier engine will work just fine with transfer of parts from the later engine...youll be into it for some gaskets and incidentals, if moneys a big issue, your own labor doesnt cost you much so id think your better off having a running truck than one that doesnt

Roller cams aren't sensitive to roller and cam lobe match. As long as the cam is in decent shape, its fine to replace a single lifter.

No crank sensor till 92 on the 318 and 93 on the 360 wneh they went to magnums. The TBI motors used the distributer for base timing still even though the computer actually controlled the curve. On the 340 magnum truck the real question is how they bolted the engine in
