I changed my 518 lock up with OD to a standard 727 but with OD... its the input shaft... the lock up one has a hole down through the center to pass oil through it... the non lock up doesnt have the hole John Cope set me up with the parts... I also changed the whole front pump(wasnt sure if the pump drive lugs would fit and standard converter)

The reaction shafts are the same EXCEPT for that third ball. It can be removed though with a pointed carbide burr and a bent tipped punch. If I can do it, you can too. A 904 is the same too, remove the ball and you have a late, two ring input shaft reaction shaft. If you don't remove it though you'll end up with a blue torque converter.
