Didn't they install T/A hoods when they didn't have any shakers in stock?

Tim, there has been a story that T/A hoods were used when there was a factory shortage of Shaker hoods but that has since been proven to be a myth.

Joe

Thanks Joe, I hadn't heard that. Tim

Shaker hoods weren't replaced with T/A hoods in 1970. But...

If I recall correctly, someone had said they ordered a 71 car with the N94 T/A hood & received it with an N96 Shaker hood along with a letter of apology indicating a temporary lack of T/A hoods in 71.

I suspect that is where the shaker vs. T/A hood myth started.

It's more likely that people didn't do any research to find out that the T/A hood was actually an option on non-T/As.

I first heard the "out-of-stock" Shaker story in a NHOA newsletter article in the 1980s...
