I went thru that exercise with my BB Duster. I did the mockup on the floor before the engine went into the car. I was using a late model K frame with the DC mod and I found out that I had to switch to the '73 and up steering linkage to clear the pan. The early linkage wouldn't clear when mounted on the later K frame. I tried a bunch of different pans and tried multiple sets of steering linkages.
