OK, Y/W, good deal.

Had to check my own older posts to refresh memory because I don't use or need to retrieve this material very often anymore/use it or lose it.

Early 3.9s had some durability problems, they were eating the intermediate shaft gear and filling engines with metal, Chrysler couldn't do balance shaft like GM did on the 4.3.
The fix was a melonized gear. Back in the dinosaur era I had a print pulled to check material spec and it was on the print.

The melonized iron gear was then, fortunately for us, carried over to the 5.2/5.9 which I verified using Star Parts.
The nice thing about it is, it can be used on either an iron or a billet core/doesn't matter.

The MP crate engine cam in contrast had the 2 piece core/iron cam gear so it could use either an old style LA regular iron intermediate shaft gear, or a newer 3.9 melonized gear/doesn't matter.

So maybe not a great concern if the aftermarket cam is a one piece billet after all....sorry to go down the rabbit hole.

Good luck with the project and whatever you decide to do.
