A street driven spoiler low enough to be real effective, is going to suffer a lot of abuse from road debris, etc. Your solution has a good chance of surviving, and will out perform any CF, windtunnel tested, engineer designed high dollar broken/shattered spoiler.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
