My wire runs along side the speedometer cable in the same clips until it gets to the brake line distribution block then runs up to the rest of the wiring harness until it reaches the starter relay. I'm not saying mine is 100% correct, but it's been that way since I bought it in 1990...

So from the clip that holds the speedo cable to the switch, it just hangs? I would think with exhaust and other linkages around this would not be wise. Plus my wire would be extremely long routing this way, I started doing this, which is what had me scratching my head wondering where to put the slack.
With my recently discovered photo I will route the same way again. Always interesting how these cars were built.
