The neutral safety switch wire goes to the ground terminal on the starter relay, no reason to be on the top of the transmission since it runs on the
drivers side inner fender until it reaches the stater relay. look up the service manual for 68 darts and the wiring diagram will confirm this. My wire runs along side the speedometer cable in the same clips until it gets to the brake line distribution block then runs up to the rest of the wiring harness until it reaches the starter relay. I'm not saying mine is 100% correct, but it's been that way since I bought it in 1990...
