Better made components and VALVING is what makes a decent shock into a GOOD shock. You can drill a hole in a washer and call that a valve, but there are MUCH better ways to do it. Many ways to make shocks do different things. Some, like Santhuffs, react to time over distance. Meaning the quicker and harder you "hit" the shock, the quicker and harder it reacts, but others are NOT like that.

I said it earlier, but it bears repeating. With a lower or midline priced shock, you get midline or lower line styled valving and that's just the way it is. If you NEED a better shock, expect to pay for it.
