Hi all. I have a 493 shortblock that I plan to bolt 84cc edelbrock heads (out of the box) onto, along with a performer RPM intake (willing to change if needed), 950 CFM carb. The compression is 10.3:1 with the heads and .039” gasket. Small headers (1 5/8 schumachers, but I’ve seen people run 10.8 with them so I’m not considering them too bad of a handicap).

It will go into a ’67 Dart, minitubbed, automatic with 3800 stall converter, 3.91 gears.

I’m looking at solid flat tappet cams. I’d like to get something that sounds nice and lumpy at idle, and will still be torquey and have enough power to (theoretically) run ~10.6 or so in the 1/4 mile.

What approximate range of duration/lift and LSA would get me there?

Right now I’m looking at Lunati voodoo solid, but don’t know how nice it’ll sound in a 493. Yeah, I know sound aint everything, but if I can’t get on it all the time I at least want it to thump a bit.

Thanks for any input.
