I have no doubt that one can duplicate the suede texture with paint. However, there are many variables that can affect the final appearance. I'm not a paint and body guy and I'm sure that I could have spent a lot more money on supplies and invested time trying to paint the frame myself. Powdercoating is not original but it is very reasonable, durable and uniform in appearance.
