Your bring up some good points. The crank needs alittle attention at the very least polished. The rods have been reconditioned but probaly along time ago and need it again. That's something for the machine shop to tell me what's good and what's not. Block, crank, rods and probaly cam are going to get checked. The cam is a purple shaft but not sure if it's the 557 or 590. The block needs a hone job if not just bored out but will see. Everything needs professionally checked and measured to see what needs to be done and will just have to go from there! Another problem that we had was the timing chain letting the cam have some movement so that was throwing off timing and valve timing for the valve lash on our set up as well! Knowing a ball park figure of where the cam is about our springs are about 30-50 lbs low. The ports on the heads haven't been touched but yet they put possibly the 2.08 valves in. We won't know exactly to we get them measured but we are assuming that they are the 2.08's. So lot's of variables and stuff that is off in it's on little way with our combination.
