I just received a hint from my tranny guy to use the steering drag link as a support after the tranny is removed. If I remember right, there is about an inch or so clearance between the bottom of the pan and the drag link. I may stick a wood spacer in there and give that a shot. This would give me more room to move around under the car and not to have to worry about knocking into a support post.
