Cab, I was kinda foggy about those HP 440's (particularly the early 67 to 68') having
the 6 quart Street Hemi pan, too (awhile back). Didn't Direct Connection offer it as an (over-the-counter) upgrade package for the 383/440 oiling system for drag racing as part of their "shared" speed secrets program back then? It's possible that the later HP's (69'-71'), were already fitted with the pans on the line by late 68'.

Not that I have heard of, the 1966 to 1969 Street Hemoi pans held either 5 quarts or 6 quarts depending the FSM you had As far as I know the 402 pan was ths standard 383-440 magnum Hi Po pan for those cars, especailly 1968 to 1970 I had a original 1970 Baracuda 383 4 speed car and I help some people that had a original 1969 440 GTX, they both had 402 pans on them. I bought a 1970 V code R/T Charger 4 speed car in 1989 to restore, it had the 6 quart Hemi -6 pak pan on it, that was the first one I had seen I was told by several factory backed Mopar racers, Dick and Mike Landy,Bob Lambeck and Joe Alread to run 5 quarts in all the stock pre 1970 oil pans that we ran(drag raced) with windage trays
