As adviced, I would also suggest to hook up the vacuum advance. But hook it up to direct intake vacuum, otherwise it won't do anything when idling. If you want to do a quick check upfront to see if the motor likes more advance at idle, just put in some timing. If you're going to drive it, just cruise around, don't hammer it or it might ping perhaps.
