I've got the left side of my dash dark, and it is a PITA to get out the dash what with the pot-metal assembly/framing, so I don't want to screw around with this stuff any time soon after I fix it. Here's the specs on the 57 bulb # Trade No.: 57 # Design Volts: 14.0 # Amps: 0.24 # Rated Average Life Volts per Hour: 500 # Filament Type: C-2V # Bulb Type: G-4 1/2 # Base Type: Miniature Bayonet Anyhoo, do any of you guys know of a replacement bulb that will are a better substitute, keeping in mind that the base has to be the mini-bayonet style?

They list $5
However, there is a bulb that looks like it might work better for the application I'm asking about as it appears to throw more light to the side, and it's about $2 per bulb It has a concave lense
