anyone take pics of this car at columbus mopar nats (87-89) i was so busy racing never took any pics. it did not have the plymouth on the quarter panel and might not of had decals. but it was a race car. as you look thru your pics if you find it i would sure appreciate it

I will be on the lookout for your car when I get to sorting out the pics from those years...

I remember seeing that car R6 bee back in the day
DC member69 500 from Indiana also had a cutaway hemi .Wonder if thats the same one. Anyway Feb 72 Car Craft cover that might of had the John Mahoney engine
http://www.carnut.com/cgi-bin/09/image.pl?/store/mags/ccmags/cc7202.jpg

I never knew that Danny had a cutaway Hemi...?!?!

It can't be the same one if its in the Garlits museum... are you sure Danny had/has one?!?!

The 1972 Car Craft magazine only had the two page cartoon that disclosed the existence of the A-925 DOHC Hemi, and asked "where is it now?". According to the story that I heard, John bought the engine years later from a school teacher near Detroit after a tip from a legendary Mopar collector of the day... can anyone name the tipster and confirm the story?

The 67 Charger in this set of pics is still owned by the guy who bought it new. The car is flawless
It was a 383 /727 car now has a 440 with a 5speed. Just had it in my booth at Monster Mopar.

Hi DC426, The Red HEMI 68 Charger with her Steelies and parked by a Silver 68 from Texas is my Charger. Great thread, brings back a lot of forgotten memories!

The Engine owned by Debbie Clark is on loan to Garlit's Museum so it has to be the same engine at Lexington in 1986 with Debbie in the pic. Anyone know what they have done with the award winning HEMI 69 Coronet or Bee???? Haven't seen or heard from them in years........

Alan and Debbie divorced few years ago, and the BEE sold and now safely resides in Cincinnatti Oh, it's in good hands and in good company.

afaik, Debbie still has ownership of the cutaway Hemi engine thats on permanent loan to Garlits museum

Thanks for the update Bill, sad news, last time I talked to them was in 91 or 92 at the Hoosier Auto Show and Swap Meet if memory serves me correctly. They had the ol HEMI Bee sitting in the back of their garage with a false wall built in front of it at that time...........

If the one in the Garlits museum is Debbie Clark's, they also lived in the Indianapolis area. I never heard of Danny's dad having one.

If the Silver Charger from Texas was a Hemi car, it was probably Ron D. from Dallas... Here is Ron at a Dallas indoor show back in the late 1980s IIRC. Maybe his son Tom is still checking in on this thread...

Allen, That is the Charger, and Ron was quite an experience........he showed me the pics of his Charger stripped to bare metal and polished like a Delorean, I said he should have just clear coated it! There wasn't a ripple in the metal, much less any rust, it was near perfect & still is I'm sure. I know we discussed Chargers at length and he got a lot of pics of mine as it has never been restored and at that time only 26k miles on the clock. There were 2 Mopar Nationals or large Mopar shows in 84 if I remember right (which is tough anymore)......both at the INDY 500 track

In regards to 426 cutaway of 69 500s.Where it ended up who knows .But this shows he had one

ASKED Which reminds me 69 500 I have a printed out thread on a old post where you mentioned having or had a 426 Hemi cutaway engine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------ANSWERED

Key word there was "had". Got rid of it to years ago, well not that many years ago but it was before I picked up the 500. It didn't work, or at least I couldn't get it to work, not sure if its back to working condition now or not.

Yep, Dan Jennings. Isn't that the one that was lost in a Detroit warehouse fire several years back?

And they replaced it with a Hemi 500

MAR is still there. Its in wentsville mo.They have nastalgia drags there,as well as others. .Its west of st louis and a little north off hywy 70.Thanks

Its gone pretty much. Most of it is torn down and being replaced with a subdivision. Want to say 2004-2005ish was the last year it was actually open.

Yes, it's completely gone now.
We went to the Pirate Festival last Saturday that's held about a mile from where MAR was and I took some pics of the former MAR site.
If you search Google maps for Scotti Rd or more specifically Valley Bluff Drive, Wentzville MO the satellite image shows where the track was.

This pic was taken facing where the track was on Valley Bluff Drive.

I resized it so I could post it here.
There are 10 full sized pics at MAR Sept 2010 Pics

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

I have been tied up with personal business, so have not had the time to scan in new pictures. I am still sorting out the tangled up 1985/1986 Mopar Nats & NHOA National Meet pics before posting more of them.

Also still locating and organizing the negatives... its tedious work, but so far I have located 13 rolls worth of negatives (plus parts of two more rolls) from the 1982 CCCC in St Louis. I have organized & labeled over 100 rolls worth of old negatives, but have a lot more to do...

I will probably start scanning & posting some of the 1984 Mopar Nats pics from Indy by this weekend, as those are mostly accounted for.

I am still trying to find time to scan in more pics... scanning, resizing, & enhancing the 25 year old pictures takes a fair amount of time...

I will try to get some of the 1984 Mopar Nats pics posted in the next few days.
