Gettin ready to get a Dana 60hd narrowed and new axles for it. Does anyone have a preference for axles, and the workmanship to narrow the housing? Moser and Strange are the two I initially thought of. Both equidistant from me, so....?

I purchase a complete 60 from Strange and was very happy with it.
X2, it measured exatly what I specified. I had Moser axles in my 8 3/4 and had no issues though.

Funny you would say that; the man I bought the Dana from tried to sell me a narrowed 9 hsg with some really nice Mark Williams axles. May need to go back and buy it now....
I sure would! That's the best you can get right there!

Yeah, I would get that Ford rear end and then shoot myself in the head.
Per Strange, a Dana 60 weighs about 15lbs more than a comparable 9". I'd much rather have the strength of a Dana and suffer an extra 15lbs right over the rear tires.
That said, Moser is nowhere near Strange in terms of righteousness. Strange is not perfect but they are a real aftermarket company, not a weenie company.
Now that right there is some solid advice
Whatever you do, don't go with a Ford 9" with Mark Williams parts (only 99% run them) but chivy rods are cool
IMHO the 9" sounds like the logical choice....what was the asking $$$ on both....?????

The Dana 60 is a little heavier than the 9"ford,but the placement of the pinion on the ring gear will free up a little more HP than the ford. Where the 9" ford pinion goes in at robs a little more HP than the Mopar rear end.Enought to make up for the added weight. The only reason my dragster has a 9" ford in it is I could not narrow the dana (has a much wider center)enought to use in my dragster.

Having to lay under the car to change gear ratios in a dana is why thier NOT a popular race rear end. Because of the aftermarket, the ford is the best choice if someone was buying new.
AND...15 lbs is alot when it comes to racing. Also would guess that with aluiminum center sections for the 9", there would be a even greater weight savings.

Adding weight over your rear wheels in a Drag Car makes you go faster until you get a balance of 50-50

Well thanks folks for the opinions. I went back and bought the 9" paid $400 w/axles no center. The Dana was $125 complete. These MW axles are so pretty I may just buy a set from them after I narrow the housing locally. Found a shop w/ a jig and will tig weld it for 150.
