Would you install one on your car?

I was just shuffling through some old boxes I had and found a an Autometer trans temp gauge (matches the other 4 gauges in my car now) and pondering on an installation if needed. I dunno though. I don't tow anything. I have a trans cooler and an overdrive...what are the chances of it heating up?

Where does it thread into anyways? It has a probe similar to a water jacket temp. Looks like a 3/8 NPT

Got one on my car, installs on the trans pan. Make sure you put it somewhere you have internal clearance for the sensor. If you have a high stall convertor on the street it really helps to know trans temp.

yes take the pan off & as maximus said drill a hole somewheer in the side where the probe wont hit the VB (& iirc a 1/2" hole) then a locknut and nylon gasket will go on either side of the pan on the threads to lock it in place. Ideal place is in a special T fiting in the (front) trans cooler line where the oil is the hottest as it's just coming out of the TC but the pan temp reading will be close enough
