i have had good luck getting stuck trunk lids open by using the proper socket on A LOT of extensions, 3 or 4 feet worth, and unbolting the latch from the trunk lid from the back seat.
perception is 90% of reality

The key turns. Unless the rod fell out of the back of the cylinder this won't help, plus it's still better to use a long extension and unbolt the latch.

I have taped a screw driver to a broom stick and gone from inside the back seat. You need to stick the screw driver into the elongated slot and give it a turn. The trunk will pop open. A good flash light is a must.

yeah I did something like that once at the track too. I used a long stick. You just need a small enough screw driver to fit in the slot.

also a good idea...i still haven't had a chance to head over to the shop but hopefully today or tomorrow.

i used the extension and socket method...it was a straight shot to the bolts so i went for it.
1966 Dart GT
...down to only 1 mopar for the first time in 15 years!
