i have reason to believe that the trunk lock is not connected properly to the latch as the key turns, but the lid still does not open.

and tips on how to get this open?

i cant crawl through the back seat because the car is tubbed / caged and pretty much no room to fit.

thanks in advance

i have had good luck getting stuck trunk lids open by using the proper socket on A LOT of extensions, 3 or 4 feet worth, and unbolting the latch from the trunk lid from the back seat.

make sure you have good lighting and a pick up magnet if you drop something.

This will happen if you get something caught in the latch....... I've also seen the latches go bad.

Drill out the tumblers and then use a screw driver to turn the latch.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

The key turns. Unless the rod fell out of the back of the cylinder this won't help, plus it's still better to use a long extension and unbolt the latch.

I have taped a screw driver to a broom stick and gone from inside the back seat. You need to stick the screw driver into the elongated slot and give it a turn. The trunk will pop open. A good flash light is a must.

yeah I did something like that once at the track too. I used a long stick. You just need a small enough screw driver to fit in the slot.

that was what I was to say... easier than unbolt completelly the latch, even harder to attach a screwdriver with something.

although could it be done with some screwdriver end socket at several rachet extensions, like how you was to remove the latch

i used the extension and socket method...it was a straight shot to the bolts so i went for it.

So was the latch/lock broken or just tight from lack of grease?

Usually you can SMACK the decklid with the key turned & it'll POP!

i think it was a combination of lack of grease AND the torsion rods in the back were removed so the lid is extra heavy. it just didn't want to budge

in retrospect if i had 2 other people there to help me i probably could have turned the key and had 1 guy pull up on either side.
