Is the flywheel on /6's and early V8 A bodys the same for a 9.5" clutch? I think it's the 124 tooth version.

No, the /6 flywheel will not bolt to an LA crank. I think two bolts are off.As for the rest of the flywheel matching up (tooth count, pressure plate bolt pattern, etc) I dunno.

1 bolt is offset. I have a 340 flexplate on my Slant by elongating 1 bolt hole, so you may be able to use a Slant flywheel on a 273.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to track down one from a /6 to find out, the actual application is a '68 273/833 Dart, I have I have the bell/fork/linkage/pedals etc from it but the guy who parted the car tossed out the flywheel thinking it wasn't worth anything so I'm trying to track down a replacement.

Be careful, Slant flywheels (and I think SB too) have different size holes in the center for the register on the crank. '68 and up have a larger diameter hole than '67 and down.

The later one is what I need so it should be easier to track down, I found 5 within 20 miles of my house at salvage yards so I may run down this week with my flexplate and see how far off they are.

I have a flywheel out of a 68 273 4-speed Dart laying in a pile in the barn. If you can't find one soon PM me and I will dig it out. I drive to Hudson, FL a dozen times every year...

Let's clear this one up right now.

The difference is NOT the outer diameter, which is all that matters fr a manual trans setup.

The difference is the inner diameter where the snout of the torque converter is supported.

This difference applies only to an automatic equipped car, not one with a manual trans. If you happen to have the early, smaller inner diameter crank and whant to run it with a later, large diameter T/C then you can machine the inner diameter out. If you happen to have a later crank with the larger diameter and you need to run it with a smaller diameter T/C then you need an annular ring to make up the difference. I believe Wildcat Auto sells them, among others.

Cool I'll keep that in mind, I have Tampa as a general location and I work there but Hudson starts about 250' from the front door of my house.

I guarantee that the outer diameter of the register is smaller too. I have 3 small register flywheels in my shop now and they will not fit a later crank.

I will be at my barn tomorrow and am heading to Hudson on Sunday, so let me know soon!

Sorry about that Joe, I will clean out my PM box once again. I got the flywheel at the barn today and will be in Hudson either Monday night or Tuesday morning. I will PM you shortly!
