hi

is there a hi torque mini starter with the short armature that will spin the engine over at hot restart .

my 340 has a silver colored unknowen brand mini starter that bogs down when engine temp is app195 deg .

remind me of the old chevy ones .

funny thing the hemi has the identical appearing one and it spins that bad boy fast even when hot ?

i have one with a slightly longer body but it hits the ex pipe .

thank you !

Get a 92-93 v8 Dakota starter at a parts store, will work fine. Small and get the job done, even with lots of compression

also check your wires and terminal ends for tightness and "green death". [the corrosion that can grow into wires from not having tight and moisture proof terminal ends]
do a voltage drop test when cold, then when hot. [watch your pinkies when around headers that are hot !]
i like to use marine grade shrink tubing with the glue that seals the terminal connection.
also make sure the wires are large enough to carry the current. i have seen some imported wire [insert your country of choice here] that claimed to be "xx" gauge size, and looked the part, only to find out the insulation was thicker, which made the wire gauge smaller than claimed.
and speaking of insulation, get a quality wire with the correct automotive grade insulation. [of course i forget the name of it at this moment !] a lot of wire on the market today has inferior insulation, not really meant for the heat and vibration of vehicle use. [again, insert the country of your choice here]

I have 3 different mopar mini starters. A 1.2kw a 1.6kw & a 2kw. The 1.2 with start a low compression big block when hot, but its a struggle. The 1.6kw is better but on my race motor when hot, you need a good charge in the battery. The 2kw will spin the earth oround your motor, even when hot, but, it dont have a snout so if you have a kickback, im sure it'll rip itself off the bellhousing. I ended up welding a snout on for extra strength.

I use the middle one (2HP). After I rewired the car I ran a larger cross section "hot" cable and a separate earth to the starter, it spins the motor over way way better than before. The batteries are trunk mounted and it has no trouble turning a 13:1, 580 engine over hot or cold.
