A Holley carburetor and the stock coil location on a 440. Any ideas?

Also there is a motorhome coil bracket that move the coil forward.

I don't remember if I used the stock coil mount and somehow "rolled" it forward or away from the Holley carb or not. This is what I have on my '69 440 GTX with a Holley 770 Street Avenger. No clearance problem with the coil and carb. (yes at the time a little backfire problem blush since fixed smile )

A piece of flat stock under the coil bracket to move it forward works.
That's what I think is shown in the photos.

JohnRR, the issue is the Holley front bowl on the center-hung float style; much longer carb than the Carters or the side-hung float Holleys.

EXACTLY! Working on using a different coil bracket. The E-Booger relocation bracket didn't quite cut it.

Yes that I know ,

Thinking about it more ... and looking at an online picture ... the plate I made was to get the coil closer to where it needed to be ... I was using a DP4B which moved the coil to the opposite side of the manifold.

What didn't work with that bracket , it would be similar to using the 6pk coil bracket ???

I just fabricated a 1/16” aluminum extension plate to move the coil forward. My pics are on a 383 with a Demon carb, but I have done it on a 440 as well.

Nice fabrication job--I'm going to need to make something like that as well.

Previous owner of my car installed a center-hung holley and I have the oval air cleaner for the fresh air hood on my 69 383 to contend with as well. The fuel line for the front bowl is causing me headaches especially.

Lot of stuff crammed into one small location.

The six-pack coil bracket is perfect for this kind of thing. Factory engineered and readily available.
