What did you find that would cause the pressure loss?

Not bad at all! Hopefully you can find the parts you need and get it back together!

I had to go to an oil accumulater, 3 qt. Next would be some way to monitor the pressure for dips or loss, like a data logger (best) or go pro camera. I also run a large diameter line to the gauge so it responds quickly.

I had some bearings that had splotches like that but were smooth and not torn up at all. Everything I read was that aereation caused it. And sure enough my oil pump pickup broke off in my hand because it was cracked at the threads.
Oddly enough the main bearings were very splotchy and looked horrible but the rods were absolutely mint with zero sign of wear.

Im not familiar with his pump supply, but finding silicone before the pump would cause cavitation even with a completely sealed pickup. Pumping aerated oil is no good. Especially in a beast like this. I also put merit in the link posted by dvw. Either or both could apply in this case.
