Maybe you need these with the larger shank diameter. these are .684 where the ones you are trying to use are .592. Did you ever call Cragar to verify what nuts you need for the wheels you have? Exactly what wheel did you buy? I see two styles series 08/61 S/S and 61C S/S. CRR-27721-4 Hey NITROUSN, I bought the series 08/61 S/S Cragar mags, and I bought the .592 shank diameter lug nuts. But I think I should of maybe went with the bigger .684 diameter shank instead. But the .592's is the ones the seller said fit the 5 on 4" small Cragar bolt circle. One of the first things I noticed when I tested the first mag wheel on my Dart was the lug nut seemed slightly sloppy in mag hole. Now I'm thinking of ordering another set of lug nuts with the .684 diameter shank and see if those fit better. Wish me luck.

i don't see a picture of the mags or the lug nuts in question but here is my take on it..take the lug nut i am assuming with the shank on it and stick it thru the mag wheel hole..it should not be sticking past the back flange or even close to it to bottom out on the drum or hub assembly ...next take the lug nut and screw it into the stud to make sure it did not bottom out inside the lug nut before it reaches the drum and you don't have a lot of treads left sticking out..and does it use a washer? the lug nut i think is your problem..they might not be deep enough inside and they bottom out on the tip of the stud..cutting the lug nut shorter only shortens the length going into the mag wheel hole..but the inside is still too short..just saying I had the lug nuts shorten at a local machine shop because they were to long and not allowing the mag wheel to tighten down against the brake drum. Now they tighten down good but loosen back up after a few miles. I think the shanks of the lug nuts are a little to small for the bolt holes. Just my thinking. They might need to be shorter. I cut my own w/o issue. Have you taken the wheel off and put the nut in the hole to see if it is still too long? How much of the wheel stud sticks out w/o a thread? I do know you should use the specific washers, but that usually applies to uni-lug. Perhaps if you took some of the chrome off the back side of the washers that might help. Something is up, I'd expect a few to loosen up but not all 20.

you have the wrong shank diam. lug nuts. When you put cragars on a 7/16 stud there is a special extra thick shank lug nut. It has the same outside dia. of a 1/2 inch lug. These are both 7/16-20

Well were you able to solve the problem?? I think I solve the problem for now (maybe). Here is what I've done as of this posting. I've removed all the Cragar S/S lug nuts from the mags because they just would not stay tight. Then I replaced them with 7/16-20 acorn style nuts with the taper ends. Yes the same type lug nuts that is used on the Mopar Ralley Wheels. I've only driven the car a couple of times since trying these nuts, but they seem to be working and staying tight so far on the Cragar Mags. Who knew this would work. More time and some longer trips with the car will tell the true story.

They might need to be shorter. I cut my own w/o issue. ... How did you cut them? I'm facing the same problem with some AR Mags and left hand lug nuts. Don't want to use the local machine shop if not necessary.

Don't want to use the local machine shop if not necessary. Cut off tool with a GOOD thin wheel. If you don't have air, you could use a grinder with a good thin wheel, or a ban saw.
