RPM is more of a factor in a 383 than hp. 383’s like to rev, but if you keep it under 6500 the stock rods will be fine. Spin em over 6500 and then you are tempting fate. Shouldn’t have to though, to make that power.

At 400 hp you are not goin to hit 6500 rpm.

Your stock rods are fine.

Making sure they are sized correctly is important, as is the quality of the engine balance, and not using too heavy of pistons. Basic stuff really. Yeah ARP bolts would be nice.

How long will you be happy with 400 HP at the rear wheels? If forever use stock rods rebuilt, magnafluxed and reconditioned with new ARP replacement rod bolts.
If your thinking of adding more power later replace them now with a better set of BB Chevy type rods and offset grind your crank to increase the stroke a little so it will help you get 400 HP to the rear wheels twocents If you do this you will need a custom made set of pistons also to get the piston deck height and compression ratio the way you will need it to make the power you want to make work
The addiction to power is never ending, usually whistling devil boogie grin

The rods aren't the weak point in the big block, the rod bolts are. Mopar big blocks have very heavy pistons, yet they used the same size rod bolts as the 318. Rod bolt stretch at high RPMs is what causes most spun rod bearings in our big blocks. Chrysler engineers realized this and used larger rod bolts in the Hemi. Get yourself some ARP high strength rod bolts, use lock tight on the nuts, keep your RPMs under 6,800 and your 383 will be a lot more durable.

Besides the Eagle and stock rods, Molnar has a 383 rod, but I think it uses the BBC rod journal and probably the pin size as well. Manley has run another set of the Jim Hale Performance rods that are NHRA legal for Stock and SS.

In my opinion Molnar is a very good choice.

You can by them direct from Molnar, plus many other vendors just as provided in the link above.
