would shot peening them and arp rod bolts help Making sure they are sized correctly is important, as is the quality of the engine balance, and not using too heavy of pistons. Basic stuff really. Yeah ARP bolts would be nice.

The rods aren't the weak point in the big block, the rod bolts are. Mopar big blocks have very heavy pistons, yet they used the same size rod bolts as the 318. Rod bolt stretch at high RPMs is what causes most spun rod bearings in our big blocks. Chrysler engineers realized this and used larger rod bolts in the Hemi. Get yourself some ARP high strength rod bolts, use lock tight on the nuts, keep your RPMs under 6,800 and your 383 will be a lot more durable.
I love the smell of Deer guts in the morning, it smells like... VICTORY!

Besides the Eagle and stock rods, Molnar has a 383 rod, but I think it uses the BBC rod journal and probably the pin size as well. Manley has run another set of the Jim Hale Performance rods that are NHRA legal for Stock and SS.
