I guess there is a good argument against doing it, but the point is don't think that every car you see out there racing are doing so with clones. You may be very surprised.

Mike,I know you have several really nice numbers matching cars. Why don't you race yours??
Not knowing who you are, and never meeting you in my life, it's kind of peculiar why you would care
I never voiced my own opinion on it and frankly to each his own. All I was stating was that there are people who do it. I have no desire to at this time. Frankly I get my fix from my day job. Almost like if you worked in a candy store, you probably wouldn't touch a chocolate bar in your entire life. I walk past my cars and really have no desire to do anything with them. Don't even drive them anymore. That may change in the future, but for right now it is what it is...

That wasn't directed at you , but my other quote may have been ...
You bought the car for the WRONG reason .
And to answer your question , no I wouldn't be racing a car that was worth twice my annual salary. Why because I wouldn't buy one that was that valuable to begin with because I would not be able to ENJOY owning a car like that .
You have NO idea why I bought my cars and for you to make a statement like that... We all bought our cars for different reasons. Some to race, some to just look at, and maybe some for sentimental reasons (had one in high school.. kind of thing). To each his own. I prefer to have stock appearing cars that I can take out for a drive when the weather is nice. And yes I do hammer the throttle every now and then on an open road.
As for your other comment...... I could never afford and have no desire to PURCHASE a car that costs twice my annual income. Some of us who have owned the cars for several years have seen the value of our cars shoot up while our incomes stayed level or even went down the last few years.
Bottom line is......... if a person has a numbers matching hemi cuda vert and wants to install a rollbar and go drag racing, it's his car!! If this same person wants to put his car inside a bubble and build block walls around it, it's his car!! That is the issue here. The original posted simply asked others opinions about racing his car. We are simply pointing out the potential financial risks he takes if he does. If he wants to go racing despite that...... it's his car. There is no need to make fun of, belittle or look down upon a fellow mopar person just on the basis of how he treats his car. Whenever I see a nice Cuda all cut up with tubs and rollcage at the dragstrip, I think to myself, what a shame. But if the owner of that car comes over to my house and sees my cars all under covers in a climate controlled garage, you know what he's thinking? What a shame.........

For me it was very important that my car run like it should. Shortly after buying it, I heard about the Pure Stock Musclecar Drag Race series and was so intrigued, I built my car with this type of racing in mind. I've spared no expense in the resto and that's still the number's engine sitting in the engine bay, but I fully intend to race the car......call me crazy if you like. Dave

Dave, Nothing wrong with that. You have the car and found something you like to do with it and willing to accept/repair any breakdowns etc. That series sounds like just the ticket for guys who like to race but want to keep their cars stock looking.

Not having fun with the car would be like having a very very beautiful wife and never being able to consummate the marriage.

Well it looks like most everyone is up for some fun at the track. I'm confused about the polyglas tires though. How will a G60 polyglas hold better than a N50 pro trac? Are the protracs that bad of a tire?

Fig , April 4 , Etown SUPERCARS ice breaker ... bring it out and run with the big dogs ,
Put the polyglas back on and bring it out. $30 and you will have fun no matter what the car runs.

No can do. I looked at the rules and I won't pass. Big cam and heads, plus the poly's I have for the rear are L's, not G's,,,, forgot about that.

Get you some M/T drag radials...
Do you find the M/T drag radials better then the BFGoodrich drag radials? (If you have used both?)
I say go for it! If it breaks, you can fix it.
