I'm working with a used block that has a damaged dowel on one of the mains. Looks like 5/8 od. Anyone have a source other than Mitchell?

It's a hollow cylinder shape. (It's not a pin).

Can you post a picture. If you know the OD, ID and length I bet you can find it. I doubt that some engineer designed a custom dowel for that application but you never know. Some wizard at Chrysler designed different throttle cables and throttle springs year after year even though they didn't really need them. Damn. Another AndyF post that made me LOL! Quoted for truth for sure.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Nope, now that I checked it..no workie....too big for the hole. Thank you for the idea, though. Would need to put it on a lathe, which is not out of the question. Waiting for the mc master 5/8 thinwall tubing, as long as the od is within spec it should do the trick.

Did you measure them? They should be oversize Unless the tube you get is slip fit it may be tough to install without damaging

This will be super simple when I get a minute. Just needs maybe .001 polished off (optional, just to be same as the existing pieces), cut to length, bevel the ends, install.

Right, now that I've got enough to make a whole set, temptation is to replace them all for really no reason.
