put the dampener slit to TDC on #6 compression & preoil one bank then turn the dampener back 3/4 turn CCW (guestimate or cut a strip of paper 17.082" to use as a ruler) then preoil the other bank. I like to get it on #8 first during assy then preoil then go forward to the slit for #6 then I just have to back it up slightly to 15 deg to set the timing all of which minimizes the amt the camshaft being turned.

nothing is coming out the push rods to the rockers
I should hope not. 440's do not oil out the pushrods.
Chevies do though, might want to reconsider.

As said above, turn the engine, reverse the drill and NO you dont need a high speed drill, you need a powerful drill turning slow.
