I've done it on the dyno, and on that particular engine various combinations make some (8-10HP/TQ) difference. Tried 1" open, 1" 4-hole, 2" open, 2" 4-hole, swapping around between 1", 2", combining the two 1", etc on a 358" SB drag-race motor.

both of my buddies picked up 15 hp on the dyno with those fancy 2" tapered spacers. One has the Wilson the other is HVH or something like that. One is BBM and one is SBC.

Spacers are usually a benefit. When you have too much, all that happens is that nothing new is noticed. Open, four hole, 1 or 2 inch changes can usually be felt seat of the pants.

My 440 RB picked up .15 and 1.5mph going from a 1" 4 hole spacer to a 2" supersucker, runs were within an hour of each other. Mick

Never tested with or without on the dyno but my results are opposite of what you would expect. With both a 1" open and then a 1" taper 4 hole I lost 2/10ths and 4 MPH. Now we have determined this is due to the lack of space between the carb and the hood of my car. I need to go up, but hood choices that are functional and look good for a 3rd Gen Charger are far and few between.
1971 Plum Crazy Super Bee. 572 World Aluminum block with a Cope 727 & Dana 4.10 out back. 9.88 @ 138 with a 1.35 60 NA. Dialed back to 10.0’s. 4000 lbs with me in it.

When i first put the 1050 dominator on my car with a 2" adaptor it lost 5mph at the top end to my 950 hp, took the hood off and it ran a pb. Mick

Spacers are so combo specific, you just need to try them and see. If you gave us a rundown of your combo, we may be able to tell what it would most likely improve with.

I wonder how the Wilson merge spacer would help a 4150 throttle body with direct port fuel injection?
Would be interesting to try, but expensive if no returns...
Mark Save your money. Will likely make ZERO difference on a direct port car. Plenum spacers have to do with air speed and atomization on cars with carbs. You don't have that issue. Look at EFI cars of various configurations. Throttle body on top, front, rear, side, etc............It simply doesn't matter
