The old Cranes were just aluminium with no rollers or bushings. I ran them on my W2 heads and ran 9's with them on but I only had a .520 lift Racer Brown solid lift cam. I did put some banana grooves on my shafts to help with oiling. They worked very good.

I cannot speak to the new stuff, but the Crane "golds" have been around forever, and we're once considered the standard for anything up to solid roller cam level stuff. Some have had luck with them in that application too, if not too wild.

I've have a set probably 20 years now, but pretty light duty solid and hyd FT stuff.

Still a great low-buck rocker imo. I bought a set from crane a year or so ago, took a month or two for them to get me a complete w2 set up, but they did, shipped at different intervals. Might be up to speed now, as they were restarting at the time I ordered IIRC.

I ran a set on a 440 in my bracket Cuda with a 654 lift mushroom tappet MP camshaft, NO problems.

Heck, I still have them on my next 440 bracket motor that's on my engine stand, ready to go on my buddy's fire-up stand.

Been running several sets of them on flat tappet cams for years..

using 1.6 rocker on hughes cam with gross lift of .651....and two other cars with lifts in the .640 range..

have run them on w2 engines also...in fact I just bought 4 1.6 w2 rockers...2 left and 2 rights for back up ...ordered them from Jegs..shipped directly from Crane..

Only thing I used for years. W-2s, solid roller, 7400-7800RPM on the same set. Never hurt them. Only after restricting the oil to the heads did they begin to show any wear. I didn't run a ton of spring pressure, but still...

I have broken one Crane Gold but still like them, had them on this 528 with a 720 lift solid all good, they are now semi retired on my sons 440 steet strip Valiant.

PS I would never run another set of roller rockers with needle bearings again, ever.

I have had them on Janet's RR since 2004 and still working Good.
I had 2 last year that the roller pin was working its way out.
I just went and bought 2 new ones to replace them. I swedged the 1 and am using it for a spare. They are on a 557 solid cam now and was on a 615 lift solid cam before that.
I would run them again without and hesitation.

I personally like them. Been running them for years without problem. .750 lift roller @ 7000 rpm all day. They aren't the nice roller fulcrum but, I think good for the price. They have been hard to get for about a year though.

"They aren't the nice roller fulcrum"

That's a plus. Roller or needle bearings are a needless complication, plus they reduce the strength of the rocker body. Plain bearings also deal with impact loads better than rolling element bearings.
