I see that grind now in the Comp catalog I would go bigger based on your converter choices Stiffen up the valve spring pressures to 140 to 170 lbs on the seats and shoot for 325 lbs to 375 lbs over the nose, break the new cam in with less pressures than those and see how it runs Maybe one of the dedicated drag grinds would be a good choice, I like and use grinds with 255 to 270 at .050 on 108 LSA when I run a solid flat tappet cam, installed at 103 to 105 intake lobe centers I like and use solid roller cams for most of my drag race motors now due to the problems with solid lifters and thier lack of life with todays oils

Thanks Cab!
I've had the current cam nitrided when I ordered it from Comp. No problems here so far.
Anyone ever drove a MP .590 cam some on them street? I've been reading good results on those in similar weight B bodies. However it might be a tad much for my mild combo.
The cust grind cam from Dwayne Porter I use in my 63 is not real far from the MP .590 as my solid flat tappet that Dwayne did for me is .585 & .592 lift at 264 & 270 @ .050 with a 110 LSA and I have it in my eng on a 106 ICl. And I do use Hughes 1.6 rockers that puts my lift around .630. I drive it on the street all the time as its actually a nice driving car as I use a Dynamic 9.5 converter that flashes about 4200 and I run 4.30's with 30 x 9 rear tires. I love driving it on the street as I drive it alot on the street. Ron

Thanks for the reply 383man! I really dig your car and combo!
I think I need to call Dwayne and just be done with it... Thanks for the kind words. Ron

I had Isky`s similar grind w/ .590-.605 lift and drove it for 7 years and sold it to a friend. With proper spring pressures, components and gentle ramps, any cam can be driven on the street imo.

Personally I would give Dwayne Porter a call and have him custom grind one for you, it won't be that much more but well worth it performance wise. If not I like Cab's suggestion on the XL285 cam
