Budman OP member B Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 161 Logansport, Indiana	71 Scamp 318 Just bought this car. There is no passing gear or downshift with heavy acceleration. The kick down linkage was hooked up to pull the lever on the side of the trans to be pulled forward under acceleration. isn't that backwards? I used a tie-strap and held the lever at trans to the rear and still will not kick down under heavy acceleration. All MOPARS & nothig else.

stumpy I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 32,947 Grand Prairie,Texas	Yes that is backwards. You need to install and adjust the linkage correctly. then see what you have going on. Tying it back won't give you kickdown It will just raise the shift points.
