Installed a Cheetah rev man valve body in my 727. I attempted to hook up the shifter linkage when I discovered that it will not shift into the forward gears. Even with the linkage unhooked it wont shift.

Dropped the pan and removed valve body, valve body shifts fine on the bench. What gives?

the neutral switch could be interfering with the vb shift pointer?

When you fed the Park rod into the tail it might have misaligned with the hole, try it again and be sure the rod moves freely.

Check the pinch bolt on the shift lever. It maybe slipping on the manual lever assy.

Check the safety switch, not it. Took the parking rod off and reinstalled, works great.

Any tips for installing the parking rod, obviously I didnt get it right the first time.

Check the rod and make sure it didn't get bent as the valve body got tightened into place. If so you won't get it aligned properly and there will still be issues shifting

went installing or removing the parking rod...move the driveshaft back n forth as needed..the rod will come out or go in easier.

Are you sure you have a 727 park rod? 904 park rod is different, but valve body works on both.

Using the parking rod that came off the factory valve body...

When stabbing the Park rod into the tail it's possible to get the rod positioned incorrectly below the parking pawl. (area in red box below) Best way to prevent this is to clock the snap ring all the way clockwise so the snap ring end will guide the rod into the tapered ramp.

Got a new slip yoke so I can rotate the output shaft and hopefully get this thing together.
