John I don't know if the red carpet is original to the 4-speed, bucket non-console '69 GTX but I have a copy of the broadcast sheet and in the "carpet" box on the BS is marked "3" don't know what that means. It's a '69 GTX in silver with a red interior (as posted above)

The "3" under the "Carpet" box on Line 6 of the BS indicates Sales Code C93. It's not especially telling, since Carpet was standard equipment on all but the lowest price classes of A- & B-body offerings (in 1969 anyway). FWIW, C93 Carpet was standard equipment on all 4-speed equipped '69 A & B-body models (even L & M price class cars).

Sales Code C93 doesn't indicate what color of carpet was used either since the same Sales Code applied to all of the available carpet colors. There is no designator on the BS to indicate carpet color, apart from what can be inferred from the Trim Code. None of the documents I have on the shelf show anything about what carpet colors are used with specific Trim Codes... doesn't mean such a document doesn't exist, but I don't have access to one.

Here is a screen shot of the 1969 Dodge Coronet Dealership Data Book. As you can see that color-keyed carpet was "NA w/ 4 spd. man. trans". That is where all the confusion comes from. According to this book (which is direct from Chrysler), you would believe that a car with a 4 speed could not get color coded carpet and black was the only thing available.

Between a couple members rooting me on... and curiosity getting the best of me, I decided to go ahead and remove a piece of carpet from my car and clean it up. Again, my '69 Super Bee was built at Lynch Road with a 383, 4spd, bench seat, B3 blue exterior, B7 blue interior. The build date on the fender tag is June 6, 1969... so it was built alongside the A12 cars.

I decided to reach way up under the dash on the driver side and cut out a piece that has not been in the direct sunlight, has not seen much traffic, and has not had anything spilt on it. It was actually tucked behind the driver side fresh-air vent housing. I cleaned it up with warm water and nothing else. At first I was positive that it was black, but when I hold it under the light, you can see the dark blue fibers. I strongly believe that is indeed the original carpet to the car, 1. because it has the brown colored jute padding on the back, and 2. the car was last driven in 1980 where it was left for dead... until I bought it.

Hope this helps someone... or maybe it will leave you scratching you head even more. Ha

Hey Guys, New member here, Have a 1970 Plymouth Valiant Duster 340, L4 Bench Seats and center armrest w/air foam in black vinyl, column mounted 3 speed and rally dash, Car was/will be FE5 Rallye Red, wondering what color the carpets would've been? I have a broadcast sheet if anyone wants a picture of it.

Welcome to Moparts.

Your Duster could have come with rubber floor mats or carpet. If you are not sure where to look on your broadcast sheet you can email me if you like? sixpak340(insert at symbol here)att.net

I should probably email you anyway but It did come with carpet, code C93 on the Broadcast sheet and it has carpet in it now, I'm just questioning whether it is right. It is original carpeting but it appears to have been dyed black from red. I'll email you Alaskan TA. Unless there's no need. How much info can I actually get from the broadcast sheet alone? Thanks So much guys!

The OPTIONAL up-grade L4X9 interior for the '70 Duster 340 included carpeting - and would've/should've originally been black.

There is a lot of info on the broadcast sheet. Carpet dyed black from red would not be original though. Have you checked it for original tags with the part numbers?

Have you verified that the VIN on the sheet matches the VIN of the car?

The vin number on the car indeed does match that of the broadcast sheet, I had the back seat out two days ago and I neglected to take pictures. I should have done that. When I had the seat out I didn't see any tags or parts numbers on the carpet, Where are they located and would they be obvious? Here are a few pictures of my Broadcast sheet, it is laminated.
