The carpet would be Red if an automatic or if console equipped.

What if it was a '69 4-speed GTX with bucket seats and no console?

But did an automatic on the column car get red carpet? The carpet was taken out of my car years ago!

If you do not have a console with 4 speed, it will have black carpet. According to the factory trim code manual all 1969 Plymouth GTX, Road Runner and Belvederes with manual transmission had black carpet but somewhere it indicates cars with consoles have colored carpet (the console had carpet on the side of it). I wouldn't rush to change it if your car has a colored carpet with 4 speed non-console...unless your going for platinum OE judging at the Nats...and the judging apparently overlooked the green carpet in the green 4 speed bench RoadRunner with the white painted top last year? It looks nicer with a colored carpet in any case.

I don't know about a Dodge but I assume it's the same as Plymouth. My trim code info for GTX, RoadRunner and Belvedere says a P6R red interior automatic will have a dark red carpet. My 1969 A12 column shift with M6B blue interior has a dark blue carpet. I parted a 69 Dodge Coronet bench seat car about 25 yrs ago and don't recall the carpet color but the red interior also had red dash pad and red plastic trim and door panels.

on a 1969 GTX St. Louis built car is the carpet color listed on the broadcast sheet? I don't think it is listed on the fender tag right?

My Lynch Road broadcast sheet only lists the interior trim code M6B with no item for a carpet color or carpet code on the BCS. You have been doing this long enough that I know you know there is no fender tag code for carpet color! You must have a colored carpet in your non-console 4 speed GTX?

John, I have black carpet in my black interior CONSOLE 4-speed '69 GTX but I have photos of another '69 4-speed NON-console bucket seat RED interior with RED carpet GTX. I have a photo of the broadcast sheet and fender tag for the car and thought I'd post it if by some unusual chance the information was on either BSC or the St. Louis fender tag that for some I have never seen because I never knew where to look for it

Frank, red would be correct on your car since the factory specified colored carpet with 1969 console equipped B-body cars with either automatic or manual trans. Mike, it sounded like you were trying to determine what was correct for your car. I thought you had a black interior but I started wondering if you had a tan interior? The red carpet looks good with 4-on-the-floor but do you know if it is the original color to the car?

John I don't know if the red carpet is original to the 4-speed, bucket non-console '69 GTX but I have a copy of the broadcast sheet and in the "carpet" box on the BS is marked "3" don't know what that means. It's a '69 GTX in silver with a red interior (as posted above)

Don't laugh at it too much, but here are some pictures of my Lynch Rd built '69 Super Bee. Original B3 car with B7 interior. 383, 4spd, bench seat car. I believe the carpet is original to the car and has never been replaced. I have not dismantled the car yet because I am waiting on my shop to be built. I noticed in the '69 data book that it was supposed to come with black carpet but I can not tell if it is black or just a really dirty dark blue. I'm itching to tear the car apart and document everything but until then, these pictures will have to do.

Justin pull some carpet from behind the kick panels. That should give you a better idea of the original color.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.
