On a 1970 318 engine, can the oil pan be turned around on the engine? I want to make it a rear sump. Is there an OEM rear pickup that will screw into my oil pump?

'73 and up truck pans are rear sump, not sure about the earlier ones, I know some were front sump.

Truck pans hold an extra quart too.

I thank everyone for the info, BUT what I'd like to know is if the pan can be turned around and bolted to the block?

No, different size front and rear cutouts where the seals are.

And the rear cutout is a different size than the 360.

Flipping the front sump pan around will not work, you need a rear sump (pickup truck style) pan and pickup. Very common.
Good luck!

Yes the one for that rear sump pan. The aftermarket has a bolt on bottom plate with a pickup tube that pretty much drops straight down & you cap the OE pickup hole in the pump with a 3/8 NPT male plug. For your app you'd just need the OE rear sump pickup to go with the OE rear sump pan
