Did a search. No help. Can a Strange spool in a 489 housing be used in a 742 housing?

Thanks

It should, I know the early and late Sure-Grips interchange.

Yes, spools and the spool bearings interchange. Just the pinions and their bearings are different along with yoke spline being either way (fine/course) on any of them..

You have to use the carrier bearings and races for the 489 carriers on the spool That makes it fit in all three cases, been there done that personnally on all three cases, 741,742 and the 489

If you are asking about the pinion bearing that is under the head of the gear then no that is different between the 3 different cases .

The pinion bearings, both, front and raer, need to match the cases, not the spool or carier unit

Thanks all. I thought it would fit but wanted to ask before I took it apart.
