I stopped at the machine shop and worked on the top for a while today. I needed to drill, tap, and install helicoils for the carb studs before milling out the center of the carb openings. It's good thing we don't plan on using it that way. The 5/16" holes that I assume were drilled for helicoils (or to be tapped 5/16-18) were not even close. I could have done better in the field with a cordless drill, hole saw, and a carb gasket.

...and a picture showing the misalignment of the carb opening. I'll scribe it with a gasket and mill the center out tomorrow.

I am going to wait until I have the block, heads, and intake mocked up before I do anything with the ports. I put a MW Superformance gasket in the intake and the holes are WAY off compared the the gasket. Upon seeing that we decided not to mess with until checking the intake against the long block.

Hope you all had a good holiday weekend. I am back to researching this project and am trying to decide what linkage kit to purchase. It looks like AED makes a nice setup and I have also been told to look at Enderle but have not found an advertised p/n for a BBM. Do I have any other options?

I have also read about having to modify the floats in the carbs due to sideways mounting. Is this something I should be reading up on?

Thanks for all of the great replies so far.

I am also trying to get ideas for air filters so if you have pics or p/n's please share.

I'm wondering about the floats also Jeremiah, I bought some of the K&N small base air cleaners for my dual 4150 tunnel ram set up, measure your carbs between the studs for the air cleaners once you get them mounted and see how wide air cleaner bases you can use I think on the 4150 carbs, depending on the carb. centers , you can use a 11 inch drop base set I had to use a set of 9 inch diameter, I think they are, on my Dominator set due to no small base drop bases for the Dominator I did buy the Extreme lidsa also, there worth a little ET and MPH at the track

The last 2-3 years I have been running terminators, but since the 80's have run both 4150's & 4500's all side ways and never made any changes to the floats with no problems.

I might have to do a little trimming when the adapters show up but it's good for now.
