The Nats are over. You are home. Your Summit credit has probably cleared. What did you get done today??
Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

Credit hit on Thursday. All I did today was buy the pipe plug to fix my oil leak. Looks like my next day of wrenching will be Wednesday. I will get the intake sealed and tighten the fuel line and get it running so I can make it run aand start tuning it to idle.

No pics, but I pulled the intake and got the oil galley plugged. Ran into another issue on the other side. The oil pressure sending unit is too fat to fit between the galley and the block. So I either need to raise it somehow, a lot, or find a smaller sending unit.

Did a tiny bit of online research. I think I got the wrong oil pressure switch. I looked at a couple pics and the application for my car should have a longer 1/8" fitting on it. The one I got had a short 1/4", or maybe a little larger, fitting. Simple enough.

Darin Here's a pic of the one I got for my 70 challenger, don't really know where I got it though. Very likely just a parts store piece. (if you open the "attachment" it may be easier to see). Jess
Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

Back at it today. I got the new valley pan gasket on it and put the correct oil pressure sending unit on it. Got the intake back on and tomorrow I will finish buttoning the rest of the stuff up and fire it up again.

Gotta friggin' work. I have little doubt it will be roadworthy by then. But the best I can do is drive it to work Norwalk weekend.

I bought the stuff I need to keep plugging away. My phone died before I could snap a picture of it, but the intake is back on, the carb is back on, fuel line connected, vacuum lines hooked up, and I'm gonna be back on it before the weekend. I still have to fight with a drivers side motor mount, but I ripped the first one, so I'm avoiding it for now. I still need to fill/adjust the trans. More of a fine tuning, but needs done. Heater hoses and anti-freeze and it's time to start tuning the idle and advance curve. Exhaust and a rear tire change and hopefully some road miles on it starting in the next couple weeks.

ITS ALIVE!! Crappy cell phone video, but it's all I had at the time. It has an oil leak, and the carb is leaking from the dual feed line. But it idles and sounds wonderful. I'll add some water tonight and see if the heater core leaks. If it does I'll bypass it for now. I need to borrow a timing light so I can set the advance once I fix those pesky stout springs in the distributor. It sounds healthy and holds some really good oil pressure! I have some more pressing matters that require my monetary attention, but I'll keep on fixing the little things and looking at a bit of road time next week or the week after. Trans goes through all the gears(except reverse. Still need to figure it out. Probably have the lever flipped.) I'm pretty pleased! Very happy with my engine purchase from David Eschedor, and also some guidance in what it likes tuning wise from its previous caretaker, Doug Markel. Couple of great Mopar guys. I still have some things to fix before it hits the road, but the list keeps shrinking! 2nd More to come.
