I got a complete gas line kit from Right Stuff Detailing for a 1971 Hemi Cuda. Has the supply line plus the two vapor lines. Everything is hooked up and fits good except for the hard vapor line the runs up along the passenger inner fender.

From the pictures I have seen it looks like this line should run up about even with the top of the shock bolt. The line they supplied stops about 4" behind the shock bolt. Any idea what is correct? If it is wrong what is a good source for the correct one.

Also what is the clamp that is suppose to hold the line on to the fender? Any dimensions of where that clamp gets screwed on would be great also.

The vapor line is a 2 peice deal. The suppy and vapor get's clamped and screwed to the car. The hemi return line get's fasten to the other lines with small S clamps.

See in this picture you posted how the end of the tube comes out directly above the top of the shock mount. Mine is way short of coming to that point.

I remember we ran into some confusion when we were installing a new fuel tank and lines on my '71 V code Challenger a while back. We had began to install one line incorrectly and the vapor return line didn't seem to be ending up where we expected it, until we figured out the short piece went up from the frame along the inner fender and attached to a longer section coming from the fuel tank with a piece of rubber fuel line (the fact that we were installing the lines at about 3 in the morning might have had something to do with it!)
I forget which of the companies I bought my set from, but they assured me it included all the clamps and clips I needed. What I found was missing from their line kit was the clip and bolt that installs in that indentation on the inner fender. If your car has the correct inner fender it should have the indentation with a hole for the bolt, where the clip goes. I searched around but didn't find anyone selling a reproduction of that clip and bolt. I ended up buying a used one from a Moparts member, cleaned it up and used it. I'm at work so I don't have my pictures showing that clip and bolt here to post right now.

Pictures of that clip and bolt would be great. Is their only one at the top or is their one at the bottom also.

That short piece of line that goes from the frame up the fender is the one I am talking about. Mine seems to be way to short. It follows the fender and around the frame fine but doesn't come forward as far as it should. I will try and get a picture of it tomarrow.

If no one else posts one first, I'll post a picture of mine this evening. I circled the area on Gary's picture where the clip and bolt I'm referring to are installed. There is another clipping tab for the line on the top of the frame and another on the firewall below the heater motor IIRC, but those are welded on the car body and not included in any of the fuel line kits.

I installed hemi gas lines on my 74 this past summer and reused the original clamps, this is what they look like. I still have my originals from my 71 car, just was to lazy to clean them up and reuse them, wish I did and may reinstall them some day. I bead blasted these clean and painted them with Eastwoods "Tank Tone". I like that stuff...

Yea I think my line is too short to even get to the circled area and put the clip on. Also looks like I am missing any tabs that would be on the frame or fire wall.

Did you read where we said it was a 2 peice line? at least on a challenger. Sounds like your missiing the short peice?

This is the second line as directly under the firewall by the frame rail there is a flexible hose connection. This line also has the check valve in it where the flexible hose connects going to the breather cap.

I have seen this also on a 1972 Satellite parts car. My challenger has a build date of 6-71.

I have a picture of an original car and I don't see where it is a two piece line. It is one piece from the frame rail to up by the shock tower.

Nope it is not like that. The shape is all correct it is just not long enough it seems.

You can't see it in that picture, it's down under right in front of the trans and tortion bar cross member. The red cap in this photo is where the connection is made. It's a 2 piece line.

By the frame rail is where the splice is.
71B and E share the same lines. I have some originals.

Not sure if the screw or clamp is original? I think the screw is because I put all the original screws back in after stripping and before painted the car.

If your asking about my car, it's GY8 It's PPG color and would have to look at the can for more info. Thanks
