My trusty pickup just rolled 100,000 happy miles the other day and I figured I would reward it with a freshening up. It doesnt need anything but I want it to feel like new so Im thinking...
-shocks
-new plugs (still has the originals)
-complete transmission flush (never did that before)

I thought about pulling the injectors and cleaning them but I put a bottle of STP injector cleaner in the tank at every oil change, should I do it anyway because of the E10?

I just did the ball joints and wheel bearings last year and replaced 2 brake rotors. Anything else Im missing?

its a 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi 4X4

Unless you want to be rebuilding the trans in a few months don't do the flush... Drain, replace the filter & refill only....

Maybe check the condition of the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and the coolant. Some replacing/refreshing there is a good idea.Look real good at the radiator/heater hoses for problems down the road.

Definitely do the plugs.Clean the mass air flow and throttle body and throw in a new o2 sensor if you feel froggy.

Definitely a drain and fill on the tranny.Flush=no good.

Would'nt touch the injectors with all the additive you run.too much IMO.

oops, I meant to say I add injector cleaner at every oil change, not every fill up. And I do oil changes and inspect all the fluids, filters and hoses every 5000 miles.

John I tow a lot with the truck so I change the fluid and filters every 30K.

Why are complete trans flushes bad?

I agree with flushing the brake fluid. I have flushed some where the fluid looked like chocolate milk. Replace Fuel filter, and PCV too. Don't flush trans, just drain, replace filter and new fluid. Shocks yes, plugs yes, If distrubitor, cap and rotor, plug wires.
If you do regular oil changes the inside of the engine should be pretty clean, but if there is alot of buildup you may want to run a can of the gunk motor flush before changing the oil.

When was the last time you changed the differential and brake fluids?

MB suggests a brake fluid flush every 20,000 miles. Gear oil is around 50k if I remember correctly.

To my knowledge a trans flush machine flushes the fluid bacwards through the trans.I may be wrong on this but if not the fluid was designed to go one way and thats the way I want it going.I can see gunk, deposits,or whatever being broken loose and causing a problem.
