What a terrible loss. I had the honor of meeting Un at Woodward last year. I would like to send my condolences to Nicole and their family. You should know that he is in Heaven.

I only knew him from here, but he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. May his soul cruise the heavens, and memory cruise our hearts.

I took my Challenger to the funeral home today. What a glorious day for a drive. It was the kind of day that makes you feel great without any other enhancers. There were a zillion people there all to pay their respects. Half of which were cops. Cops from neighboring towns, Detroit cops, cops from all over. It was pretty impressive. There were lots of sweet Mopars in the parking lot, too. (including Gary's Challenger right in front)
Emotions ran high in the sorrow department and I wasn't sure I was going to make it to the front of the line to say hello to Nikki. When I was just about to the front I thought I was going to lose it, but soon found that Nikki was a pillar of warmth and confidence. Yeah, she was bumming, but what immense strength she demonstrated. It only figures that a guy like Gary got a gal like Nikki. Sweet, considerate and welcoming. She gave ME the strength to push on, as compared to the other way around. How ironic. I felt like a blubbering mess,(I wasn't actually crying, but felt like I was gonna' at any moment) but HER attitude really helped me pull it together and feel good about being there. Imagine that. What a fantastic lady.
Should be another impressive display of police and Mopar iron tomorrow for the procession. I feel honored to be able to participate and more than anything, EXTREMELY honored to have made friends with Gary a few years ago. We're gonna' miss that donut eatin' speed freak. (I love jabbin' Gary with that stereotype! ) He was and still is one helluva' guy cuz he's gonna' live on forever in my book.

I've been away for a few days because of work and family commitments. I couldn't believe what I was reading this morning, I'm still shocked. I first met Gary 3 or 4 years ago at the Nats, and looked forward to seeing him and other Moparts people at Big Bear each year. What impressed me most was what a down-to-earth guy he was. Whan I posted about a perplexing parenting problem I had with my little boy and ex-wife, it was his advice I trusted most. The world has lost one of it's "good guys." R.I.P.

I, was setting on the porch of the gym my husband and I belong to Thurs... speaking to a friend of my husbands who is also a cop, he was kind of making a little fuss about having to work on his birth day. It was purely in jest, he told another of his friends when she ask him about (being a witness to a crime while off duty,) that "There's no such thing as off duty cops" as our conversation continued he thanks me for having sympathy for people in their line of work, as I told him it is a job that I, wouldn't want...(they have so much to deal with) and it came around to it always seems to be those routine(done it a zillion times) traffic stops that seem to claim the lives of so many of our officers. I'm not sure why.... but I came home and got on the computer( I've been offline for a while due to a virus and hving to reformat everything install a router so on) And the first place I come to is Moparts where I saw on the main screen in bold blue letters: In Memory Of...And I honestly froze! It has taken me this long to even be able to reply to this thread. It's been on my mind and it literaly breaks my heart, I didn't know Gary (Unlawful) as well or as long as many of you did, but every time I had the privillage to speak with him he was kind, compassionate and very genuine. I have 2 pm's in my inbox from him that I have read over and over and many that were deleted( as Dart_Girl said ... had I only known.... just goes to show that we take so many things for granted.. I know I'm rambling but you'll have to forgive me as words escape me right now... I, too feel as if I've lost a dear friend even though I was never fortunate enough to have met him and his wife in person.. I, would just like to tell her how very sorry I am for her loss and for all of you on this board who are hurting because of his death, I'm sorry for your loss as well. And to quote officer Larry "There is no such thing as an off duty cop" He was just relocated to a better/higher precinct(sp?) One where there is no more drunk drivers, or knife carrying bad guys to contend with... it's constant donuts and coffee for OUR deeply missed (Unlawful) Gary Davis.. God Bless You All you have my deepest sympathies as I can't imagine how deep your sorrow must run. Slow down, buckle up, and the next time you get pulled over for being in a hurry when you're late for work... instead of grinding your teeth and cursing the officer just say Thank you officer! He's trying to save you or your loved ones this kind of grief.

I too only knew Gary from online. I specifically waited until today, as close as I could to the time of his funeral to add my thoughts to this thread. I knew I would not be able to attend the service, but felt this was the best way I could participate, by specifically taking the time to remember him now. However, by waiting, there isn't much I am able to add that hasn't already been said. Gary's legacy will be the vast number of lives he touched while he was with us - both here on the board, as well as offline. Simply to show how much of an pillar of the Moparts community Gary was, as of the time of this reply, there have been almost 1100 posts, with almost 32,000 views on the various topics dedicated to Gary. Those numbers speak volumes alone.
Gary, thanks for everything. You will be sorely missed by myself and everyone else here.
He truely was the best of us.

I just heard about this today. I didn't know him other than here. I'm happy he broke his 10 second barrier and happy that he made the cover of MM with that awesome ride.
We'll be seeing ya, Un.

Please extend our deepest regards to his wife and family from my wife Judy and me. This whole ordeal made me think a lot about life and the paths we take and are led to.
