SD is very low profile & reportedly has good low end for a single plane & it's a spreadbore. rpm performer is very tall & reportedly good top end for a dual plane & it's a square bore. I have a SD but no actual exp w it yet

I have both to try out!

From what I recall from a previous magazine article............

the Perf. RPM had more torque in the low-end as would be likely......but not much.

I've used both on 440's before, the same engine even. The RPM is much better but does cause clearance issues. SD isn't bad at all, but I would go w/ the RPM if possible.

I want my fair share

I too have used both on a 440. Switched other items at the same time though, went from a Holley SD to the Eddy RPM while switching the cam from a big old-school General Dynamics to a Voodoo 60303.
Therefore not a great comparison, but I certainly like the Eddy and have no reason to believe the SD is superior in any way.

I do believe they are pretty darn similiar in performance.

General Dynamics is a Defense Contractor. Unless you had a cam for a tank or submarine in you engine, You had either a General Kinetics or Cam Dynamics cam.

I had the SD on my old mild 440 that was in my 63 and I really liked it. It actually had very good low end for the combo. Best of 11.49 with a best 60 of 1.57. It was a 906 headed 440 with the MP .557 cam and a 850 DP. Ron
